Explorers, Guides, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers, Rainbows : 6th Romsey (Lockerley) Scout Group

scoutslogo tnThe scouts groups have been running since 1952 when the first Lockerley scout and cubs group was formed. The group was able to acquire the land for a scout HQ - the full address is Dennis Wooton Hall, Donkey Paddock, Lockerley, SO51 0LW. The scout HQ was built in 1972 following a successful fund raising campaign. The Building and the Glebe Field are available for hire – please contact the Group Secretary  for availability, more information and price. Dogs are not permitted on the field. The hall is maintained by its members and funding is provided through local contributions of those taking part and from the national organisations. The parish council permits use of the adjacent field known as the Glebe Field. It is frequently the host for camps throughout the year.. No dog walkers are permitted on that field. If you walk your dog on any green, clear up their mess and take it away with you; there is no such thing as a dog shit fairy that rescues bags left on the ground or hanging from trees or bushes.

Guides

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Thanks to the dedication and support of 100,000 amazing volunteers at a national level, we are able to give girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good.

The village is very fortunate to have active, Rainbow, Brownie and Guide groups that have existed for a number of years. Parents who are interested in finding out more information about the Guiding movement and how to find a place for their daughter can register using the Parent page of the www.girlguiding.org.uk website.
Rainbows are aimed at ages 5-7 and their leader is Emma Webb. They meet on Fridays in Lockerley village hall between 1730 and 1830.
Brownies cover ages 7-10 and their leader is Chris Goodman. They meet on Tuesdays in Lockerley village hall between 1800 and 1930.
Guides include ages 10-15 and are led by Judith Houghton. They meet on alternate Thursdays in Lockerley village hall between 1930 and 2100.
